Bradford Council is proposing to alleviate traffic on the A650 through Shipley by spending £140 million on a bypass which will tunnel under both Shipley town centre and Saltaire Village, designated a World Heritage Site by UNESCO. See the bottom of this page for the route of the proposed bypass.

Davies, who claims on his website to be ‘representing your interests, not self-interests’ listened to the voices of the local people he represents speak against the bypass. The proposed route for the bypass is through the buffer zone and underneath the village, emerging through the allotments and following the canal to Hirst Wood before heading south to meet the Bingley Road.
